Editor's Note: This was also a project from my Special Event Management Course.

I was the overachiever and rather than a constructing a one-day "dream" event, I created a thorough, 3-day film festival involving income, expenses, flyer design (left), animation plan, general market plan, and program.

MARKETING PLAN

AVENUES

Red Stone Cinema, Egyptian Theater, and Holiday Village Cinemark are theaters in the Park City, Utah area. These locations will be utilized throughout the January 19th-26th, 2017 date due to its convenient locations and capability to control and contain large crowds of people. The Egyptian Theater will also be the location of a special dinner party event due to its large, open foyer area. Having more than one theater during the course of the event will allow participants to select which screening they’d prefer to attend.

MARKETING STRATEGY

Informing will be conducted almost immediately after the 2016 Sundance Film Festival so filmmakers will have time to make and submit their work before the deadline in the fall. There will be special announcements and how-tos on conducting your own film through frequent email subscriptions and website between the months of May to June 2016. Flyers will be more directed towards filmmaking email subscriptions and colleges with film programs; the ideal release date for the Sundance Film poster will be July 5th. A teaser trailer incorporating the theme of the film festival will be released on August 5th; exactly a month after the poster.

Reminders will be sent out in months July, August, and September if any filmmakers wants to submit their work before deadlines in October. The submission window is between August 15th to October 14th, midnight. All other submissions will have to go through the late submission pile. The absolute deadline is November 30th. In the month of December, judges will review the work and submit their final decisions a week prior to the event, January 12th.

Special, discounted ticket deals will be announced in June but will only be posted for 24 hours on August 1st. Purchasing tickets (officially) will begin August 31st. From there, radio shows and Sundance raffles will be giving away tickets throughout the months of November, December, and January.

Radio shows will also begin featured a carefully scripted ad beginning December 15th followed up with Facebook advertisement on December 5th. There will be a countdown on the website and another teaser trailer on January 2nd to increase excitement for the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
